✍️ Changing your name on your account
The easiest way to update your name on your account is during your next card renewal.
Make sure to start your renewal via our website. At the beginning of the process, you’ll be able to review and update your profile details, including your name.
If you need to update your name before your next renewal, just follow the steps below based on your situation.
📭I haven’t received my Blue Light Card yet
If you’ve applied but haven’t had your card delivered yet, please send us:
Your full updated name
A legal name change document (such as a deed poll, marriage certificate or decree absolute)
A copy of your ID card
Once we’ve confirmed this, we’ll update your name on your account ✅
💳 I have a Blue Light Card, and this is my first name change
Most members can now change their name themselves in My Account without needing to contact us.
✍️ Changing your last name
- You can update your last name yourself in My Account.
- Once you’ve saved it, your virtual card updates instantly so you can keep redeeming offers online and in-store with no interruption.
👉 You can update your last name once during your membership period
🛑 Changing your first name
- For security reasons, first name changes can only be made by our team.
- Please raise a support request and include a copy of a legal name change document (such as a deed poll, marriage certificate, or decree absolute).
- We’ll verify and update your details.
- If you’d like a physical card with your new name, head to the Your Card page in My Account once the change is done to order a replacement.
💳 Do I need a new card?
- Your virtual card updates right away when you change your name, so you can continue to use it with no break in service.
- A physical replacement card is optional: You can order one via the Your Card page in My Account. Or you can wait until your next renewal.
- Please note that new card requests made over 90 days from the start of your current membership period are subject to a £4.99 administration fee.
🔁 I’ve already changed my name once during this membership
You can only update your last name once per membership period.
If you’ve already made a change and need further help, we can still update your name. We will just need a bit more info. Please submit a request here
A photo of your work ID or payslip (dated within the last 3 months, showing your full name and employer)
A legal name change document (such as a deed poll, marriage certificate or decree absolute)
Once we’ve got everything, we’ll update your account and send you a card with your updated name.
