The quickest way to confirm your eligibility is by adding and verifying your RNLI work email address during your application. Sign Up Here!

We only need to see documentation that proves your current employment to check that you are eligible.  When you upload your documentation, we recommend that you redact all information other than your name, employer and date.

If that doesn’t work, no problem - you can upload one of the following documents, as long as it matches the name on your Blue Light Card account:

✅ Accepted proof of eligibility

1. Work ID card showing:

• Your name

• Your RNLI affiliation

2. Payslip that includes:

• Your name

• Your RNLI affiliation

• A date within the last 3 months

3. RNLI Headed Letter that:

• Confirms your current role

• Is signed by your Station Commander

• Is dated within the last 3 months

If you’re retired from the RNLI, you may still qualify for a Blue Light Card! Here's how to apply 👇

📄 Upload a pension document from any provider
📝 Include proof of at least 4 years’ relevant employment

 We only need to see documentation that proves your retired status/former employment to check that you are eligible.  When you upload your documentation, we recommend that you redact all information other than your name, pension provider, and if you need to provide supporting evidence of former employment you redact all information other than your name, employer and date.

✅ What can I use as proof of employment?

You can upload:

1. 📂 Two documents from at least 4 years apart (e.g. employer P60s or payslips)

2. 📨 An employment or leaver letter showing your start and end dates

3. 🗂️ A professional registration record with your work history or cease date
