We only need to see documentation that proves your current employment to check that you are eligible. When you upload your documentation, we recommend that you redact all information other than your name, employer and date.
✅ Employed
You’re eligible if you’re employed by a Residential Care company and that includes any role, not just frontline care staff.
✅ Volunteer
Volunteers in Residential Care companies are eligible too, whatever your role. Every contribution counts.

🏡 Retired Residential Care Staff – How to Apply
If you’ve worked in residential care and are now retired, you’re eligible for a Blue Light Card! Here’s what you need to do:
📄 Upload a pension document from any provider
📝 Include proof of at least 4 years’ relevant employment
We only need to see documentation that proves your retired status/former employment to check that you are eligible. When you upload your documentation, we recommend that you redact all information other than your name, pension provider, and if you need to provide supporting evidence of former employment you redact all information other than your name, employer and date.
✅ What counts as proof of employment?
You can upload:
📂 Two documents from at least 4 years apart (e.g. P60s or payslips)
📨 An employment or leaver letter showing your start and end dates
🗂️ A professional registration record with your work history or cease date
